UNIMI. UNIMI Research Unit for this Project is composed by 1 Associate Professor and 1 Full Professor.
The DISAA-UNIMI staff is specialized on the application of optical vis/NIR and HSI optical devices for quality valuation of fruit and vegetables, and focused the research activity on the wavelengths selection in view of a future design of simplified optical systems for the horticulture directly in the field, coupled to expertise in optical system prototyping and testing. DISAA-UNIMI staff: prof. R. Beghi, project PI, Unit leader, expertise in i) application of optical technologies for non-destructive agri-food analysis ii) design of simplified optical devices for the evaluation of crops iii) chemometric modelling; prof. R. Guidetti, expertise in the application of non-destructive technologies for the agri-food sector, ii) evaluation of environmental and economic sustainability of agri-food products, processes and plant.

UNIFG. UNIFG Research Unit, for this Project composed by 2 Full Professors, also includes (at this moment), 1 post-doc, 4 graduate students, 2 of them working on ND techniques for quality evaluation of fresh produce. Throughout the last 20 years the Unit has gained worldwide esteemed experience in both conventional and nondestructive assessment of quality during postharvest storage of whole and minimally processed fresh produce, particularly focusing on spectral data and hyperspectral imaging. The Unit leader prof. M.L. Amodio attended many intensive courses and conferences on spectral and hyperpectral data processing, and his part of the Italian Association of Spectroscopy (SISNIR). Prof. G. Colelli, was involved as coordinator in many national and international
funded multi-partner projects, the last of which is a PRIN project titled “Sustaining low-impact practices in horticulture through non-destructive approach to provide more information on fresh produce history & quality-SUS&LOW).
